I took the art survey and there was no place to note income from social security. My husband died 10 years ago. He had no life insurance when he died. I do not consider this to be welfare...
You should consider this as an option in your survey because many widows get back into their art work after their husbands die and many elderly singles take up art in their retirement.

10/09/2005:
Jen,
This is Dan McGuire - no longer in Williamsburg, but I still read the TIMES online. I am in, of all places, Rockford Ill. where my wife is doing a medical residency. Speaking of housing, we bought a nice house in the suburbs for $95,000 - the only catch is that you have to live in Rockford Illinois.
Your baby looks beautiful. I've got two now myself. Best of luck to you and your family.
Yours
DAN MCGUIRE

hello.
i liked the art survey very much.
however, it did occur to me, in the income section (how the artist's income is cobbled together) that one missing thing is teaching art, or working as a professor (adjunct/full etc) of art. somehow i think that differentiates itself from a "day job/non-art" existence. do you agree?

just a thought.

Jennifer,
Your art is potentially hazardous in its potential to provoke, embarrass and enlighten today's financially bloated art world, which just happens to be a direct mirror of the Hollywood star system in its fundamental conservatism, image-frenzied, market-driven ethos. Artists themselves are partially to blame for this, for they are the fuel of the system. Why not do a wicked statistical piece on artists, the vast majority of which have some kind of hidden support or trust fund safely behind the scene? After all, who pays for the lofts, co-ops, and separate studios, the expensive shows, the ads in art mags, the vacations in Europe, the part/part-time jobs in galleries or the adjunct teaching gigs that pay next to nothing but somehow suffice, plus the fees for the expensive art schools, etc during the artists 'struggling' years? Everyone knows but no one dare admit that money from home is the art world's biggest and best kept secret..I hope you fearlessly address your inquiries to include the money behind the artists themselves that keeps them locked into the system, and who are just as guilty of perpetuating the current system as anyone else. There is an inherent sense of decorum that comes through your work which, I feel, intrinsically limits you. Cross that line between investigative jornalism and fine art and you'll have everyone buzzing. Take the chance..! Good luck.
Sincerely,
Susan Kaprov

Do you know where I could see pictures of people draining the fluid from their eyeballs with syringes. I find this kind of thing most interesting and to be quite honest there is not enough of this on the internet.I began having my paranoid delusions back in the summer of 89 and havent looked back since (except to check for people in suits following me, obviously) and if you watch the television close enough I think you will see what I mean. I find speaking in tongues is extremely refreshing in a shamanistic way and self flaggalation most probably hurts you more than it hurts me but thats just my uninformed and ill concieved opinion.
I am very misunderstood.
I have stood under the mist and apart from the fact that the subject does have a tendancy to become foggy I cant see any logical reason why anybody with ventricals and a cerebral cortex wouldnt think the same thing, but hey when in Rome eat pizza right? I hope you all ignore me like the weirdo I am and dont even bother visiting ToolyTowers as it hasnt been updated since it was born last Febuary. And with that thought lodged well and truly in your noggins I bid you atchoo.

Jennifer,

I really enjoyed going through all of your stuff during my lunch break. What a great idea. Also, I just saw your stuff at Spencer Brownstone (very nice work) and I'll try to make it to your opening.

hi!

06/04/1999:
Hi Jennifer. It's Elizabeth Rowin. I bid on your unicorn. I really hope I get it. I love this idea. After everything that's already been done in art, it seems impossible to come up with something new. I really like how you're integrating art and computers. Kevin and I definitely need one of your computer symbol paintings. Maybe we can make a private deal someday. Congratulations on the show! Hope to see you again soon. Love Kevin's woman.

Where in the world are the images? All I can get to is the notice!

I enjoyed this site quite a bit. The e-bay action was not working. I would have liked to bid on click.

Hello,
I'm writting you from Lisbon, Portugal.
I think it's a great action (and auction), but I understand it in one way (being an artist myself and working outside marketing) which i'm not sure it's what you mean by this.
I'd like very much to have a few comments from you about it.
congratulations, it's very interesting and has a unique kind of sad beauty in it.
Yours Ana Leonor almmr@alberti.fa.utl.pt
